Coding Specialist--Inpatient
Position Description
Casual Status= On Call/As Needed Basis for Hours Worked Inpatient Coding
Opportunity Reviews medical record documentation and assigns correct diagnosis
and
procedure codes to ensure accurate reimbursement for The Nebraska Medical Center
inpatients. Accurately codes and sequences diagnosis and procedures according to coding
guidelines and abstracts accurate clinical information for optimum reimbursement and to
avoid fraud and abuse actions by the Office of inspector General.Athome coding
opportunities are an option after onsite training and productivity standards are met
consistently (minimum of three months onsite) and you must reside within a 50 mile radius
of campus. High school education or equivalent required. Associates degree or
bachelor's degree in health information management preferred. Registered Health
Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT),
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder Hospital (CPC-H), or
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required within nine-months of employment. Experience in
inpatient or outpatient facility coding experience preferred.
